Rompin Roadtrip

Finally have some time to myself to update the Lair. I'm appointment-free today. No stuffy bankers to meet up.. well, at least for today! I've been spending my lunches and dinners with them for the past week and glad to get a break! Took a day off to settle some legal stuff yesterday too. I've yet to go through the thick documents (more like a tome!) i gotta sign!

Just offload a bunch of pics from the cam too. My weekend trip to a durian orchard and previous batch from Rompin roadtrip.

Anyway, let's backtrack TWO weeks to my Rompin roadtrip! yeah, i'm really behind my posts and photos! :PP

Dragon Fruit orchard

These were taken last 2 weeks. Came across a few Pitaya or Dragon Fruit Orchards on my way to Rompin. I had two options to drive to Rompin actually and i decided to take the kampung road instead of the highway to enjoy the scenery and small towns that i'll be passing through. I stopped a lot on my way back!

Going there took me 3.5-4 hours drive and coming back took me 7 hours!! haha.. There wasn't any traffic jam, i just took a leisure drive and stopped at all spots that interest me. I always enjoy the return roadtrip cause i can buy whatever i want and stuff it into the car!! Bought 1/2kg of yummy and hot coffee-bean-fried chestnuts from a roadside stall in Muazam Shah then i was driving and cracking chestnuts all the way in the car.. kekeke

Neways, i was just shooting from beside the road and then someone called and invited me to go right into the orchard! Nice!! I've never been to a dragon fruit farm before! It's my first time seeing a dragon fruit tree actually and it sure look weird!! Like a mix of cactus and giant aloe vera!

Also dropped by Ulu Bendul. The starting point to climb Gunung Angsi is somewhere here cause i saw the signboard around. :)

Newayz, that was 2 weeks ago! Will do the durian orchard visit last week in the next post. Next time. Late dy and tomorrow is another working day. Speaking of work, I can't believe they did such IDIOTIC mistake 2 freaking weeks before Go-Live!!! urgh.. what the heck, that's another story. Let's not go there lah. Nite!

Back to work

First day of work after a week's break. I've yet to revert my biological clock back to the working days. Been sleeping late and waking up at noon like i used to do back in college.. hehe.. gotta love the night!!

So my clock is still a bit screwed and i could only sleep at 5am last night and had to draggggg myself up at 8am this morning. ergh... It's amazing i'm still at my feet and did not nod off at work.

Monday is not as bad as i thought I'd feel. It was good catching up with the fellas who went off for vacations. Had traditional candies from Japan and checkout pics taken in Lipe Island. Gosh, i miss island's clear blue water. Gotta visit one soon!!

Withdrawal symptoms

Just like that the week-long hols that i've been waiting for is going to be OVER!! I tried scrunching my face to stop time like the Jap guy from Heroes but nothing happened! *sobsob*

I'm at this horrid stage where I don't feel like going back to work. Gotta pull myself out of the blue :(

Work@Starbucks

Haven't been blogging regularly nowadays. There will probably be spiderwebs around the Lair at times but at least it's not infested with dead bodies yet(!) unlike SOME blogs i know *hint hint* :)

I'm in Starbucks now and if i'm there with my laptop, it's bad news. It means that i'm on a deadline or need to get things done without the distractions at home like the bed and the eps sitting on my harddisk.

We're on design stage right now and i'm expecting to be even busier when we enter the short 2 months build stage .

Back to work.. will post some pics later tonight if i'm done with my stuff :)

Some photos as promised. They are all shot by hand cause tripod is too heavy to lug around the whole day. Night shots are especially tough with the DSLR. I refuse to use flash! Most of the time, i leveraged on a handbar or whatever flat surface that i can find.

They call it 'winter' at this time of the year. Most days are cloudy/misty/smoky/hazy. Anyhow, i lOOooooOOOve the weather in Taipei!!

Had this from Shilin Night Market. Mushroom glutinous rice. So-so only.


ooo, this is nice... they call it 'jian pau'. The outer layer is like the usual pau and the inside is like 'siew long pau' - pork with a little soup. Didn't know that the first time i ate it and had the soup burned my tongue and dripping all over.. yikes


A bit like Sze-chuan soup... with crab meat in it. So-so only.


Their corn is just weird. They dry it and then grill it with honey and scatter sesame seeds on top. It's the hardest corn i've ever had!!


The one with vege inside is really yummy!!

I loOOooove this! Mango jelly in mango juice is my fav! Pure mango juice with cubes of fresh mango and jelly!! It's a chained dessert outlet with lotsa branches so i had this almost everyday in HK! Really miss it now!


Tall ice cream?! Lotsa stalls sell this in Danshui. Spent my last day there and love the place to bits!
